Gene served as President of the Professional Bail Agents of the United States (PBUS) in 1996-97, was named national "Bail Agent of the Year" by PBUS in 1999, and was inducted into the PBUS Hall of Fame in 2007. He is a past President and current Treasurer of the Mississippi Bail Agents Association (MBAA) and a Master Certified Bail Agent (MCBA).
